Morocco – A Treat for Your Senses

For your African holiday, immerse yourself in the cultural history of Morocco. With a rich tapestry of history, this romantic and mysterious country includes the imperial cities of Marrakech, Fes, and Meknes. Brave the slopes of the Atlas Mountains or lose yourself in the vast reaches of the Sahara Desert and Dades Valley. Beaches, desert, mountains, bazaars, water pipes, mint tea, and more – this desert paradise is the perfect spot to get a taste of modern life mixed with ancient traditions.

Marrakech is arguably the most famous spot in Morocco, and is the best place to start if you choose this area of North Africa for your holiday fun. Located at the foot of the impressive Atlas Mountains, this imperial city is a huge, convoluted mass of cultural diversity. This is not a vacation spot for peace and quiet. This is a vacation for those who enjoy a constant assault on all the senses as you embrace this far-off city.

But despite the barrage of happenings you can also find centres of peace and quiet within the city in the tranquil Marjorelle Gardens, or the gardens around the Saadian Tombs. And if you have the chance to stay in a Riad, you can return from a bustling day at the bazaar to relax in the cool, quiet safety of a courtyard, sipping mint tea and letting your feet and body rest after a day out on the town.

Travel and hotel accommodation are at your fingertips while staying in Marrakech, and should you find yourself overwhelmed by the vastness of the city, simply hire a local guide to help you around.

Canada: A Rising Tide in the Ocean of Recession

Canada has the distinction of currently being one of the most stable economies in the world, and is suffering the least from the current wave of recession that is stalking the rest of the globe like a hungry lion out for a meal. Combined with the natural beauty of the country and the rugged, vast open spaces, the high-tech mesas of her largest cities make Canada one of the brightest lights for individuals or families searching for a way to economic survival.

Much like countries around the globe, Canada offers a variety of visas depending on what exactly it is that you want to do. If you want to simply visit first to get a grasp of what it is to live there, to job hunt, or meet with potential employers, you can simply head on over via your passport. But there are also several other options, including the skilled worker visa, the business visa, the family visa, or the simple work permit visa.

Canada is also one of the easiest places to migrate to, lacking the amount of red-tape that countries such as the U.S.A. require. The economy and industry within Canada is booming by comparison with the rest of the world, and they are eagerly looking for new blood to help move their country into 21st century.

So regardless of your personal position, if change is something that would do you and your family some good, then Canada very well might prove to be the place that you are looking for – the way out, the new hope.

A Trail to the Past: The Inca Trail

Experiencing the Inca way of life is beyond words. And along with the many sites within Peru that are a must-see for anyone coming to South America to experience this amazing step back in history is the famous Inca Trail.

The Inca Trail is but one of many stone paths built by the Inca people years ago that cross the most remote parts of the Andes Mountains, and this particular 43km section of stone-paved trail was built as part of the royal highway, leading up to the impenetrable citadel of Machu Picchu, high up in the mountains and deep within the cover of the clouds.

This is the premier hiking trip within South America, hands-down. It is a four-day trek that is part of the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary, which is a designated site that crosses over three mountain passes and through various ruins of Incan settlements along the way. You will see the most amazing landscapes on your journey through these mountains until you finally reach the fabled Sun Gate, carved from stone, and you can see the mighty Machu Picchu visible below, with Huayna Piccho Mountain rising in the background, casting a protective shadow over all below.

You cannot hike independently on this trail. All arrangements must be made through official Inca Trail tour agencies. A good place to start is over at http://www.incatrailperu.com/ where they give a more detailed break-down of not only the various sights and locations along the way, but also references to some of the highest rated tour guides who can take you on this epic adventure.

Travelling and Accommodation in Australia

An Australian holiday is an adventure holiday. While there are some fabulous beaches and surfing locations along the coast, the real “meat” of Australia is the Outback, and the diversity of cultures that are spread across this landmass. And getting around Australia can appear more daunting than it actually is.

Regardless of your destination, there are a variety of ways to get around. Car rental agencies abound in nearly every major city and many of the minor ones as well which specialize in 4-wheel drive rentals. There is also plenty of public transportation within the capital cities, including trains, busses, ferries, monorail, light rail, and trams. And of course taxis.

But there are other ways of getting around as well. Should you decide to take the scenic route, think about coach or bus travel around the countryside, or for a real treat, schedule a cross-country railway adventure on one of the railways. The Indian-Pacific rail trip is a classic scenic route that takes you from Sydney to Perth, or the legendary Ghan that goes from Darwin to Adelaide, through the desert and tropical settings of the country.

Accommodation is as easy as anywhere else in the world. Hotels abound throughout the country, or you can schedule a stay at one of the many resort locations with first-class guest services. You can also rent apartments and holiday condos, or for a true Outback adventure, experience the rustic setting of a farmhouse holiday as you enjoy a stay on a rambling homestead.

Put your mind to rest. Despite the size of this rugged destination, getting around is just as easy as it is back home, and you can tailor your travelling needs to suit your personal tastes.

Experience the Vacation of a Lifetime in Paris

Lauded as the cultural capital of Europe, Paris is perhaps one of the most well-known cities in the entire world. Everyone has heard of it, and the first thing that comes to mind for any visitor when they hear her name whispered is “city of romance”.

Ideas on just how it got that reputation are as varied as the people who will explain it to you, but one thing is for sure: Paris is so chock-full of experiences that you will never be able to cram it all in to just one visit to this amazing capital city.

Paris has been a major city in Europe since the middle ages, but in recent years it has become more than just a capital. It is one of the premier tourist destinations in the world. Visitors flock from all around the globe to visit the Eiffel Tower, spend a day at Disneyland Paris, or visit the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa.

The food and wine within Paris are without match. Nowhere else in the world will you find such a broad array of wines and cuisines. The love of food and wine has long been a reference point when talking about the French people, and nowhere is that more evident than in the capital. Here you will experience delights that will send shivers down your spine as you sample the elegance of world-class cuisine and Bordeaux.

Paris is the throbbing heart of Europe’s cultural scene. No matter the reason why you come here, you will leave a changed person, with feet that are just ready to set foot on her streets the next time.

Visiting China

One of the premier Far East holiday destinations is China. This vast country is a melting-pot of cultural and historical diversity that spans a region of the globe that is so magnificent that you simply must experience it first-hand.

Travel to, and within, China will vary depending on the region you are heading to. Major cities will have all of the amenities of home, with accommodation ranging from simple hotels to luxury stays. Car rentals, railways, subways … all are means of transportation that are readily available in all the major hubs. However, the more rural areas will require some planning in advance, as the countryside of China can range from the high-tech metropolis of the city to back-woods farm areas where the only means of transportation for most locals is their own two feet.

You will require a visa to travel to China as a UK citizen or resident. You can find the relevant information at their embassy website at http://www.chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng/. Be prepared to provide a detailed itinerary for your trip, as this can vary the result of your visa. If you require a Business Visa you will need to get an up to date HIV test certifcate

China is a diverse nation. There are literally so many destinations that it would be impossible to pack them all into one Far East holiday trip. Coming back more than once over the years is ideal, as there are not only historical landmarks to see, but experiencing the cultural lifestyle of this country is beyond words. From cruises to walkabouts, to week-long stays at 6 star resorts, there is no limit to the variety of experiences to choose from.

Ocean Village Cruises

Ocean Village Cruises is the cruise line that really makes the difference in the world of cruising. It is the cruise line with the tag line, “The Cruise for People Who Don’t Cruise.” So, what exactly does that mean? It simply means that, with Ocean Village, there is no set package or cruise. Nothing is compulsory. Passengers can, and are, able to customise and tailor their own cruises. If one does not like a particular item on the programme, they can choose to plan their own programme or spend time as they wish. Sounds interesting?

Both their ships, Ocean Village and Ocean Village Two, are well-equipped and have at least 50% and 25% more personal space, respectively, compared to other ships in their class. Passengers are guaranteed to have a comfortable and fun journey.

With packages/tours, such as “Crete to Caribbean,” “Transatlantic,” “Emperors & Espresso – Europe,” “Emperors & Espresso — Mediterranean,” and “Tapas & Togas – Europe,” and “Mangoes and Monkeys – Caribbean,” there is a guarantee that the journey will be filled with excitement and fun.

One can choose to attend trapeze classes (for those with an affinity for height) or salsa if you want to learn some hot new moves; shop at the duty-free boutiques and other shops; relax over the aroma of a cup of freshly brewed cappuccino; get comfy in the Jacuzzi; or tan out on the decks with other fellow sun-lovers.

Thinking of moving to Canada?

There are numerous reasons for moving to Canada vs. the U.S.A. or any other country, not the least of which is socialised healthcare, a 22% GDP vs. America’s 52% GDP (Government Debt Percentage), lower unemployment rates, cleaner air, and a relatively high standard of education.

Canada has been mocked for years as the red headed stepchild of North America. The country has been ridiculed for being a socialised European culture on American’s turf, but what most people don’t realize is that while the West has been squandering their resources and burying their citizens in debt and tarnished reputations, Canada has been quietly polishing her decks and raising sail. And while the Titanic-sized fiasco of Western poor management plagues the “great” nations of the past few decades and pulls them under the waves of financial crisis, Canada appears to be sailing on into the horizon with a strong wind at her back.

It’s not just about the scenery, or the amazingly fresh, clean air. Or the quiet, peaceful serenity of the Yukon, the heavily forested slopes of the mountains, or the idyllic lakes surrounded by lush evergreens and vibrant wildlife. Canada is stable. Her economy is rising. And people are flocking to her shores with hopes of becoming part of this quiet giant of a nation that is rising from the rubble like some beacon of hope shining brightly through the gloom that has overtaken most of the world in recent years.

A stable economy, plentiful jobs, amazing scenery, relatively untouched landscapes, and socialised healthcare – what more could you ask for?

Bulgaria – Travel Tips for the New Visitor

Taxis and public transportation are the best way to get around while in Bulgaria. Trams are common in most cities, although the regulations of each will vary depending on your location.

Tickets are required to be purchased at kiosks. If they are closed, there are new automated ticket dispensers on the trams. However, they do not always work. The driver of the tram will always issue tickets upon request. If you purchase a ticket via the kiosk or the driver you need to use the puncher located on the tram wall to punch your ticket. Each tram has a unique hole-puncher, and people will randomly board the tram to check tickets. If you are caught without a ticket or a ticket that bears a punch from another tram line, you will be fined.

If you travel by taxi, especially in Sofia, always check the rates on the window of the cab before you arrange for transportation. Certain agencies within the city are notorious for rigging their meters to charge ridiculous rates to unsuspecting foreigners. If a cab does not have a fare sticker visible, avoid that cab. The best cab agency to use is OK Cabs, available at this number: 973-2121. They have the cleanest cabs and they are strictly regulated so you will never be ripped off. Be warned that many of the competition use similar signs and ads on their vehicles because OK is such a popular cab agency with foreigners. For your safest bet, simply call for a cab rather than hailing one down on the street.

The subway and bus system are a bit outdated, but are still the easiest way to get around.
