Applying for an Immigration or Work Visa

If you wish to work outside the European Union, no matter which country you travel to, you will need to obtain a visa. Regulations regarding visa application can vary dramatically between different countries and it is vital that you research a country’s visa rules and immigration laws before you submit your application.

Of course, some countries will be more stringent than others. The UK immigration laws are among the strictest in the world, but the US is now seen as one of the most difficult destinations when it comes to obtaining an immigration visa. Many travellers have now chosen to emigrate from their country of origin to Canada instead, as although there is still a thorough visa application procedure the requirements are not as demanding as with the US. Partly as a result of the visa application process, Canada is now one of the more popular destinations for people wishing to move abroad.

For an Australia visa, it can be relatively easy to enter the country on a working visa for up to one year, but long-term immigration visas are harder to come by and require you to be a highly skilled worker. However, there is a demand for trades people in Australia and this is another option to consider when applying for Australian immigration.

South Africa has recently become another popular destination for people wanting to work and live abroad. A South Africa visa will have a similar application procedure to Australia, but the rules are quite stringent when it comes to providing evidence of a clean criminal record and the availability of finance to cover you for at least your first few months in the country.

Experience the history of Armenia

Once you are settled into Yerevan, you can begin to explore the countryside around Armenia. Almost all of the best sights can be accessed within a day or two’s travel from the city, although in extreme cases you may be in for a 2-3 day trip.

One of the most impressive sights in Armenia is the temple at Garni. This two thousand year old temple, called “The Temple of the Sun”, is built above a 300 meter gorge, and surrounded by Ionic columns and a Roman bath. It was recently restored (in 1976) and there is also a ruined church complex at the bottom of the gorge, as well as a natural hot spring where the waters are rumoured to have healing powers.

There is also the monastery of Geghard, and its most famous artefact: the spear that supposedly pierced the side of Jesus Christ while on the cross. Although the lance no longer remains here, the monastery is still well worth travelling to. The buildings were all carved from solid granite, which gives this place an impressive feel and look. The four churches are simply an amazing feat of architecture, and to have stood for this long is nothing short of awesome.

You can also take a trip to the quaint tourist destination village of Dilijan. Nestled in the heart of the forested slopes of northern Armenia, this little city is a step back into the past. Nearly all of the city’s most historic spots have been refurbished, and there are plenty of outdoor trails and hikes to participate in.

While a bit rough around the edges and definitely off the beaten track, Armenia is one of the best travel spots within Europe for the adventuresome soul who is looking for something beyond just a few nights in a hotel.

Applying For Your US Visa

The rules and regulations concerning US immigration are quite strict and differ quite substantially from the UK’s immigration laws. If you don’t follow the guidelines properly, you will run the risk of having your visa application denied. No matter which visa you are applying for you will need to fill out a form giving your basic details, such as name, address, birth date, etc., as well as more information regarding your work history, disabilities or any criminal convictions you may have.

Once you have decided on the visa you wish to apply for, you will then be asked to provide documents and evidence to back up your application. For example, if you are applying for an H-1 Visa (as a skilled migrant worker) you will need to produce a detailed report of your career achievements and qualifications.

When you have gathered all the necessary documents for your application, you will then be requested to apply for an interview at the US Embassy. This is when you will provide the documentation supporting your application and also be questioned on what you plan to do in the US, where you will live and your reasons for applying for an immigration visa. There is also a fee for applying for a US visa, so it is worth contacting the US Embassy for the latest rates. Once you have completed your interview it will take an average of four to eight weeks to receive a decision, depending on the type of visa you have applied for.

Cruise and stay holidays are becoming very popular

For many people, having their first big holiday a long way away from home can be a very big deal. Therefore, it is important that the company they decide to take a cruise with takes care of them in every way imaginable.  Some research is necessary to ensure that the company offers exactly what the customer desires.

Many people prefer cruise and stay holidays that allow the traveller the chance to stay (often in an embarkation port city) for a few days before joining the ship. The flights and onshore accommodation are all arranged as part of the cruise deal.  That is the only difference from a normal cruise deal.  As with the majority of cruise holidays, passengers will still visit more than one destination, with the complete on board services to ensure they have a good time and feel safe and secure.

On these holidays, being on the ship is as much a part of the experience as setting foot on shore in some of the world’s most exotic locations. The more popular cruise and stay holidays tend to focus on the Caribbean, Egypt and Bermuda and a whole host of operators are currently competing for the customer’s cash.

These cruise and stay breaks are designed to make first time travellers feel completely relaxed. Cruises such as these go the extra mile to make sure that the whole experience is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, with the added advantage of exploring onshore before embarkation.

View the stunning landscapes of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park

An often overlooked destination when compared against the brilliant glow of the Golden city of Prague, the Bohemian Switzerland National Park is a breathtaking view of landscapes from riveting gorges so deep you cannot see the bottom, to the high meadows that stretch east of the Elbe River. Deep and dark forests stir with mythical folktales and the ever-reaching pinnacles of sandstone make up an eerie landscape that should not be undiscovered.

The headquarters will be the city of Hrensko, which is located just a few hundred meters south of the German border. This quaint little village is the epitome of Europe at its most traditional: half-timbered, gabled houses built into the narrow gorges along the edge of the Kamenice River where it flows into the Elbe.

There are dozens of hiking trails just a few minute’s walk from the village, from a few-hours trip to sections that will require you to be ferried across the river by boat men. This is a place to spend several days exploring the sanctity of nature and the hidden wonders that hide within the forest and gorges.

Getting there is up to you. Probably the most scenic route is to take the train from Prague to Dresden, then from Dresden to Schona. This puts you across the river from Hrensko, and you can simply take the ferry across. This train ride will allow you a perfect view of the surrounding countryside. Alternatively you can take a bus from Prague to Decin, then from Decin to Hrensko.

Canadian Immigration Facts

Canada is a much underrated country in terms of what it has to offer, both as a holiday destination and a possible future home. It is home to some vibrant cities and a variety of different cultures, which contrast superbly with those of its massive neighbour, the United States.

It is also a budding country in terms of the economic power it possesses and the value it can add to the life of anyone moving there. Canadian Immigration is currently screaming out for a whole host of highly skilled workers who are interested in securing permanent residency in Canada.

For many people, however, a short visit to see what the country has to offer is more than enough. One or two weeks holiday will be enough to provide a fascinating insight into the country, which may later develop into a desire to return on a more permanent basis.

If you are thinking of going to Canada for a break any time soon then there will obviously be paperwork to be completed and visas to obtain. Canadian Immigration has a whole list of countries whose residents must apply for a Temporary Residents Visa if they wish to pay the country a visit.

Fortunately, the United Kingdom is not on this list, but a British citizen looking to stay in Canada for longer than three weeks and possibly carry out some short-term work, will need to apply for a Working Holiday Visa. These can be processed in London and are valid for a period of one calendar year.

The Frigid Beauty of the North – Finland

Despite the rugged outdoor appeal of Finland, and its wild northern landscape, this wintery country is ranked – year after year – as one of the most technologically advanced civilizations in the world. The contrast is almost blinding, but once you settle in, this is an amazing location to take a trip to if your destination is Europe.

As a UK citizen you don’t need any special visa requirements to enter the country. Just bring your passport, some warm clothing, and a love for all things wintery, such as skiing, skating, and snow.

But it’s not just all about snow and ice. This European country is full of wonders, from ancient Swedish castles to the domed Russian churches. The reindeer herds of the Sami people inhabit the wilds of Lapland to the north, while in the capital of Helsinki the world is alive with the sound of modernity. You will find museums, nightclubs, galleries, cafes, and more here. But take more than a few steps outside of the capital city and there are hundreds upon hundreds of miles of pristine wilderness to explore, underneath a star-lit sky and breathing the fresh, clean air of an unspoiled countryside.

This is the paradox of Finland. The country boasts some of the wildest and most pristine wilderness locations in the world, yet at the same time is regarded as one of the most high-tech societies in the entire world. In fact, there are more internet connections here per person than in the US or the UK.

Regardless of your personal tastes, there is something for everyone in Finland. If you are looking for a unique vacation to a destination within Europe, then Finland is your choice.

Caribbean cruises – A luxurious holiday for all

The Caribbean has often been described as one of the most beautiful and desirable places to visit in the entire world. As life is throwing so many problems at us at the moment there has never been a more fitting time to take a Caribbean cruise and discover what it offers for you.

Caribbean cruises can vary greatly according to the kind of destination you prefer. The most popular appear to be cruises that involve short, onshore visits to such well known Caribbean islands as Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Antigua.

The company that is perhaps best known as offering first class cruise holidays to the area is Royal Caribbean International. The company was founded in 1968, so they have learned a thing or two about Caribbean cruises since then. There are a variety of different class options available to customers and as the company carries thousands of holidaymakers each year, you can be sure that they will take care of you.

The advantage of a Caribbean cruise is that it allows you to experience all of the Caribbean. You may otherwise be restricted and not be able to visit more than one country in the small amount of time that you have available for you holiday, which is one of the reasons that cruise holidays are so appealing.

Of course there are many other operators that offer excellent Caribbean cruise packages and each one will offer slightly different itineraries and perhaps be targeted at specific groups of people. Taking a cruise is a unique experience and while many will want to head for the most popular destinations, others may prefer to make for some of the quieter and less touristy islands.

Birthplace of the Gods: Lake Titicaca, South America

Along with the many Inca destinations within Peru, there is also Lake Titicaca, known as the highest navigable lake in the world. Covering 10,000 square kilometres, this lake is shared by Bolivia and Peru and holds particular significance to the Peruvians, as this is the traditional mythical birthplace of the Inca Empire, where the ancient ones, descendants of the sun, rose from the waters of the lake to create their sacred civilization. The Uros Indians continue to live today on man-made islands that float around the lake. There are numerous islands to explore, and the view is simply breathtaking.

Coming to Lake Titicaca is one of those experiences that ranks up there with visiting the Great Wall of China, or the Galapagos Islands. This is one of those places where the combination of nature and mythical legends combine to create a sense of wonder that cannot be experienced simply by reading about it or seeing it in a picture. You have to be there first-hand to know what it means.

You will need to travel to Puno, the city where most tourists start. They have guided tours around the lake, including some to the Floating Islands, and boat trips go to each of the fixed islands every day. Accommodation is provided by the local residents.

This is a cultural experience. The people in this region believe they are the royal descendants of those first Incans who rose from the waters of the lake. They are basket weavers and masons, and the Incan agricultural ways of life are still practiced here. For a simple, exotic experience like no other, this is the place. This is South America at its most breathtaking.
