City Information on Moscow

Moscow, which is the capital and largest city in Russia, covers an area of 1,081km2. It is also recognised as a world-class city, being the seventh largest in the world, with a population of 10,524,400, as of June 2009. The city’s average annual temperature is 7°C (45°F).

Moscow is the major economic hub in Russia and has the largest number of billionaires in the world. It also holds the record for having the second busiest metro system in the world, has nine railroad terminals and three airports.

Moscow’s architectural style, as seen on many of its churches and public buildings, is famous for its blend of Soviet influenced past with modern, capitalist styles. Some of the most notable examples include the Dushkin Tower, the Moscow International Business Centre (MIBC) skyscrapers. There are also the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites at Novodevichy Convent and Ascension Church. Other popular attractions include Red Square, the Iberian Gat and Chapel, Upper Trade Rows, Lenin’s Mausoleum, Alexander Garden and the Architectural Ensemble of the Trinity Sergius Lavra.

Easy and safe access around the city is provided by the world famous underground system. Foreign tourists can fly to Moscow using Aeroflot, Air France, Air China, Air India, Alitalia, Alaska Airlines, ANA, British Airways, Balkan, CSA, Delta, Finnair, JAL, Korean Air, KLM, LOT Polish, Lufthansa, Malev, PIA, Sabena, Swissair, SAS, THY and Transaero, depending on the country of origin.

    I’d love to go to Russia, i think there would be loads to do and some great places to visit

    I’ve been to Russia and its a lovely place but can be hectic at times though
