Experience the Magic of the Black Sea

The Black Sea coastal region of Bulgaria boasts some of the best resorts in Europe. The port city of Varna has been a major coastal city for thousands of years, and it is your best choice of headquarters if this is your first time to the region. You can also fly in direct.

The Black Sea coastal region of Bulgaria is a mixture of white sandy beaches, modern resorts, and plenty of mineral baths, thermal springs, and mud treatments, creating one of the best spa regions in the area. You can also visit the older Greek villages of Nessebur and Sozopol, or stay in one of the resorts at Sunny Beach.

But perhaps the best experiences will be had in one of the smaller seaside towns where you can have a unique cultural experience by staying in a small villa or family-run guesthouse. Balchik is one of the smaller towns that most tourists usually pass over in favour of the larger resorts, but this small coastal city is the perfect example of a romantic getaway that can be had while in Bulgaria.

The seaside experience within Bulgaria is extremely similar to that of any Mediterranean resort, and in many ways is cut off from the cultural diversity that makes Bulgaria so unique. While the food and language along the coastal regions is Bulgarian, the feel is very much non-Bulgarian, and travellers will have no issues getting around.

If resorts are more for you, then stick to Sunny Beach or Varna. But if you want a rustic or romantic experience, just pick any of the picturesque villages around the edge of the Black Sea.
