Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of Spain’s Balearic Islands. As of the 2007 census, the city’s population was approximately 383,107, while the population of the entire urban area was about 517,285.
Although the city has a modern facade, Palma has a long history and rich culture. This city was voted the best place to live in Spain and has played host to hundreds of thousands of tourists, especially during the summer months, when the population almost doubles.
Among the attractions in Palma de Mallorca are Bellver Castle, La Seu, La Lonja, Majorca Museum, La Almudaina, Church of Santa Eulalia, Arab Baths, Pilar and Joan Miro Foundation, Es Baluard, Porta de Soller, Calla Agulla, Calles de Mallorca and Convento de San Francisco.
Bellver Castle is a very popular attraction, which constructed between 1300 and 1310. The layout of the castle is circular with semi-circular towers and an additional tower set some seven metres away from the castle’s main structure.
La Seu is a magnificent Roman Catholic cathedral with Spanish Levantino Gothic or French Gothic style architecture.
Majorca Museum, which exhibits an excellent collection of prehistoric artefacts, is recognised as being one of the top museums in the Balearic Islands.
The city offers some of the best hotels and the widest choice of entertainment, including the trendiest nightspots, on the island.

The same airlines also operate flights from Palma to many European destinations.
