If you are considering starting a new business in a new country you’ll need to obtain the proper visa.  Most countries offer many types of visas.  These typically range from a permanent skilled working visa to a student or part time working status visa.  These visas often have stiff requirements that you either already have a job or have the education and skills to get a job quickly.  Investors and business owners can often obtain a special sponsored business visa.  The sponsored business visa varies from country to country but in general has similar requirements.  First, the business must be viable.  That means that the business is necessary in the country and will likely do well.  Another requirement is that the business offers 5 to 10 new job openings for citizens of the country.  This prevents you from opening a business where you are the sole proprietor.

You will need to supply a detailed business plan that outlines the specific type of business you will open.  It must include financial information that should prove that you will be able to open and sustain the business.  Additionally you will need to have enough money or assets to support yourself and your family for a period of time. Finally, most often you’ll need to pay a special business visa fee, which can be hefty.  The application for sponsored business visa should be submitted as early as possible and in some cases can take many months to approve. Be certain to verify the specific visa application details for the country you are immigrating to.
